Water Wings XVI Ground Zero 1

Ground Zero

T im had never seen so much dust in his life, heard so much noise all along, sirens, screams, moans, squeaks, deaf explosions, crashing like glass exploding - and had never been so scared. Not that that assailed him sometimes at night, when everything became silent and dark, and some shadows in his room stretched, threatening to tickle him on his feet. That was a fear that just close your eyes, and strive to get to sleep, to drive them out. Now he felt the terror of being forever alone. When the entire center San Francisco exploded, Tim was slammed against a car and lost consciousness. When he awoke, his mother had disappeared.
He walked around like a sleepwalker through the debris and rubble, while the dense cloud of dust prevented him from seeing more than a couple of feet, and came into his eyes and lungs, making him sneeze. Strange figures passed him, running, or stumbling, some with torn clothes, others covered in blood, all covered with a layer of white powder, which made them look like those characters in horror video games.
Then there were the police officers, firefighters, which ran around, and Tim did not understand because I do not see it, and indeed, when he tried a Fermo, this gave him a pat or a slap, mumbled a few words and ran away again, to the point where the smoke was denser.
now it was clear he would never see his mother. He sat on the curb, leaning his chin on his hands, no expression on his face, while the noise around him seemed so far away, almost swallowed by the cloud of dust, slowly lowered to street level.
would be left alone, forever, forever forever. A tear began to rigargli her cheek, slipping and taking away the dust, while another began to form on the edge of the eye.
- What's your name? - A sweet voice, and the feeling of a strong and firm hand on his shoulder. Tim lifted his head, bending it back slightly.
- Tim - he said, pointing to the tall, dressed in black above him.
- Are you lost?
- Yeah .. no ... yes, my mom ...
Man tall and dressed in black pointed to a spot, to their left, where the dust began to clear. Tim looked in that direction, and for a moment his heart stopped beating.
- Mom! - Shouted, s bad in feet and running to the staggering figure that was coming out from that hell gray. He paused for a moment, before reaching it, turned to the man in black. He stared for a moment, how to study. Then he smiled, and whispered a "thank you", a voice so low that even the man probably felt.
Michael smiled, and without opening his lips, he answered with a "my duty", which Tim felt very well, in his heart, rather than in the head.
Then the figure dressed in black turned and whistling a song by Jimi Hendrix, it penetrated the cloud of dust toward the epicenter.
